About The Fairlington VA Subdivisions

Fairlington is an Arlington neighborhood of townhouses and condominiums in the southernmost corner of Arlington County bordering Alexandria. The community was built in the 1940s and touted as the largest housing project by the Defense Homes Corporation during World War II.

In fact, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. The area is divided into North and South Fairlington by Shirley Highway, and is connected by the Fairlington Bridge (Abingdon Street). Much of Fairlington is wooded and overlooks Four Mile Run Valley.

Although none are located in Fairlington, it is within three to four miles of several Metro stops. Metrobus and DASH provide direct service from the neighborhood to the King Street/Old Town and Pentagon stops. The Village at Shirlington provides ample shopping, dining and entertainment for the residents of Fairlington.

This highly sought after neighborhood consists of seven townhouse/condominium communities each with its own condominium association, pool and other amenities. There is also a community center, gym, a kids park and a leash free dog park for all of the communities to enjoy. Fairlington has a very suburban feel to it with heavily treed common areas throughout the neighborhood.
