Moving in to an Arlington VA house? Don’t forget these three cleaning tips…
Moving in to a new Arlington VA home is very, very exciting.
But don’t let the excitement get in the way of taking care of a few very important things. Amid buying furniture and hanging up the family photos, here are a few basic items you shouldn’t forget to protect your family and health:
1) Have the locks changed. Even if you’ve bought a brand new home, you don’t know who has a copy of your keys out there. Especially if you’ve purchased a previously owned home, you should have all of your major locks and deadbolts changed. The hundred bucks is absolutely worth the peace of mind and security.
2) Clean your air ducts and vents. Odds are that your new home was subjected to a ton of sawdust and your old home was subjected to dust and who knows what else. In some cases, your air ducts can be completely clogged with animal hair and other allergens. So get them cleaned out and give your nose a break!
3) Have the carpets cleaned. Did the previous owner have pets? Who knows what’s lying just beneath the seemingly clean outer shell of your carpet. Before the kids start playing and rolling around on the carpet, have them cleaned. You’d be surprised how dirty they can be.
