Installing New Flooring? 3 Helpful Tips for You…

Putting in new Arlington VA flooring doesn’t have to be a daunting task… if you are prepared.

You can save the $1.99 per square foot by installing flooring yourself. Now, before you run off and start laying down the wood and piecing it all together on a Sunday afternoon, here are a few important tips:

1) Buy an installation kit. Home Depot or Lowe’s typically sell an installation kit for 20 or 30 bucks. You’re going to want to make this minor investment. The kit is a necessity, especially for laminate flooring. The kit features a few leveling blocks and cubes needed to make sure your flooring is square.

2) Underlayment, yea or nay? Does the flooring you bought come with the necessary padding or not? Does your flooring need the padding? These are important questions you need to answer before laying down your selection.

3) Itchy or Scratchy? Some flooring, like cork, does not handle hard pressing or scraping very well. Before choosing the prettiest flooring option, make sure it’s suited for what you’re going to use it for. Some laminates can be weak and some $5/square foot real wood flooring may be just as scratchy as the $.59/square foot vinyl.
